Battle of the Salts

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt vs Celtic Sea Salt

Salt seems to get a bad rap now a days; however, it is a essential component of the diet. The most common type of salts are table salt, pink himalayan sea salt, celtic sea salt, kosher salt, etc.

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt

Made up of roughly 98% sodium chloride and 2% trace minerals. See photo below of the trace minerals.

Pink himalayan sea salt (PHSS)contains a less sodium than regular salt, and it is known as a “pure salt.” It originates from the mountains of the Himalayas. PHSS is a great ingredient for cooking or even to bathe with.

Celtic Sea Salt

Celtic salt contains 33% sodium and 50.9% chloride, and originates from the coast of France, and contains less quotient of sodium compared to table sea salt AND has trace minerals (see pic above).

The main difference between the two:

Himalayan salt helps prevent lower blood pressure, and Celtic salt helps control higher blood pressure.

So, which do you pick?

I use both, but prefer the celtic sea salt because of the amount of trace minerals you get!

Be well.
