It’s great to desire stuff in life - shoes, cars, materials, etc. The problem is it is very self centered. You can have all the money in the world, and feel really lonely and unfulfilled. Once you accomplish what it is you’d thought you wanted you’ll soon realize that it was very short lived, and shallow.
Humans are creatures created to feel a sense of belonging. We are designed to care for one another and contribute to our community.
We are designed to experience Eudaimonic happiness, which is when we do things for others. It brings us purpose and gives us a sense of meaning and it is much more long lasting than Hedonic happiness.
So how can we experience the happiness that brings us eternal fulfillment?
Start doing things for others. Create something that is useful and/or is something people value.
Be great,
