Supplements for Taming Inflammation
Our bodies naturally respond to inflammation when there is a injury or infection. Inflammation can be lowered through foods, and supplements. In today’s post, we will discuss inflammation and the different foods and supplements you may want to consider using to help tame it. It’s not unheard of that fried foods, refined carbs, and processed foods contribute to inflammation.
With the auto immune system there is always a vigilance..similar to having police to enforce the law system…there is a law system in our bodies to follow, and if we don’t follow it our bodies will not be happy. When the rules in our bodies are compromised, it stimulates a immune response to deal with the insult. When their are more stimulants on the immune system it can be from bacteria, toxins, mold, UV radiation etc - there is a release of inflammation chemicals and it begins to elevate the inflammation set point (which is what happened with COVID).
Elevated set point of inflammation + a foreign object such as a virus = your immune system has to fight it at a additive levels getting into what’s called a cytokine storm. This is why it’s important to make sure you are in a low inflammation state through a process called…. prevention ;)
So how do you deal with inflammation…? Well there is food, and then there is supplements.
Fats
Using. a good fish oil in triglyceride format may be beneficial in reducing inflammation. Our cells have a phospholipid fat layer, and when we consume fats they are incorporated into our cellular membrane, which in turns helps to decrease inflammation in the body. This is why it’s very importante ;) to eat healthy fats! The EPA content, for example, converts into anti inflammatory chemicals called specialized pro resolving mediators, which help restrain inflammation! You can look into getting a supplement such as this one, or see the pdf below to read more about specialized pro resolving mediators.
Botanicals
Some other supplements that may help are:
Wobenzyme M: combination of proteolytic enzymes ideally you want to take 45 minutes before food or 45 minutes after eating to not interfere with digestion. This is a great supplement you can take before going to do something risky physically such as a competition, skiing, football, etc. When taken before and should a injury occur the supplement may help to control the inflammation produced as a result of the injury. You can get it here!
If you choose to use conventional medicine to reduce inflammation or decrease pain I should write….the way it works is by tricking nature. Drugs through conventional medicine is not bad. It has its’ place, and is beneficial for the right situations; however there are certainly alternatives to traditional medicine that affect the similar pathwways to medications such as: Liquorice which may help the stomach bug, and alleviate digestion problems.
P.S Most supplements do not provide you enough of it to provide you with the adequate amount you may need to see a result (although this is my superstition…) they do this on purpose to get you to keep buying.
The main takeaway is to consider adding in some fish oil, and eating at least 1 fruit/day. This will ensure you stay on track to controlling inflammation and avoid getting over inflamed especially if you are already sick.
If this helped you, share it with a friend! Thanks for all the support!
